A very special thanks of me too. It was all the same it seems like every RTS game was the same only different units, buildings and strategies...

But when i met battle realms... this game kicked me out the hook! Damn i was so impressed about this game. I had never expected such a strategie game...

I was losing interest in strategie games, but battle realms rescued it! I love this game and i would really appreciate it if BR 2 would come out soon. Keep your good work donT dissapoint us!

Im an old player (literally but not that old) and have played a lot of RTS games in our office (ha ha ha.. nah my Boss wont read this after all). Ive played Warcraft-123, Age of Empires, GOG .. to name only the few I appreciate. But what really tickles my fancy is................... Battle Realms. Thats why I have 3 CDs of it (my first WOTW broke because my daughter played with it...lol), to think that I was already late in playing it. By maybe about 7-8 years.

So to have a news that there would be another BR series, that would be a BIG welcome for me. Then I would be the first to be in a Cd game store for it. Why not? I am one of the late players for the past BRs, so I would take the opportunity to be one of the few first player to play the new BR, ifever there will be.

I just wonder if the new BR is really in the making now. The first post of this was way back 2006 and its already 2009... does anyone have updates?????

Nekro, i think most people would go for new games. Thats why a lot of them plays Warcraft/Dota though, in my own opinion, its not as good as Battle Realms (because of its unrealistic setting). But if Liquid can produce BR2, im sure it would be a big hit and can even surpass Warcraft. To think that BR is already old and still has a lot of followers, then BR2 should have no problem as far as followers/players are concerned..

Clever marketing can make a great game a global hit. Usually this means a lot of money available to spend on advertising (a big budget).

WOWC has this convenience and it has made it very popular.

BR I dont think ever had the luxury of any advertising did it ? Was there ever any marketing for BR ? anyone ever see any adverts ?

WOWC however. The budget for marketing must have been huge as it was advertised everywhere. And it continues to grow through its continued support.

With continued support you get continued revenue being generated through sales as the support (redevelopment of code and patch upgrades etc...) maintains the loyalty of players as they continue to be involved in an ever expanding and advancing world. But with no support then the game has to be something very special to maintain a fan base and live players.

BR does not have any support at a level that can maintain an extensive fan base.

My fear is that BR will eventually become a 'once was' and will eventually become even more less known than it already is.

BR suffered when it came to publicity if you ask me. BR has attracted its players through being a great game. Word of mouth through friends mostly.

Think how popular it might have been, given the budget at the time of release.

As time goes on. I cant see much hope for BR unless there is an update but as its so old now and technology has become much more advanced I'm guessing it would mean a totally new development of the game.

Everything would need recreating to rival next generation games. There is much more involved than just sproocing up the graphics.

That said. I still play BR whenever I have the chance. But I don't expect an influx of new players unless there is an extensive and magical expansion and some clever marketing.

There is always hope ofcourse.

Yeah, True CobraKhan is extremelly right. In any product, per se, marketing always plays a vital role for its success... I remember one time.. before the release of Age of empires III, Microsoft already advertised it about a year it was released. So those followers of AOE II: age of kings already longs for it even if AOE II is still in the craze..

I've played WOWC/Dota for 3 years when i was back home in philippines.. but then i went here in Canada i started playing BR then i accidentally deleted my WOWC/Dota.. from now since i started playing BR i noticed that its a lot better than WOWC/Dota.. I can see that from now and so there will be more players coming, and old players are still gonna play... hopefully BR 2 is in the making..

I just wanted to thank all of you for keeping the fire burning for Battle Realms. BR will always have a very special place in Mike's and my heart. We worked really hard to give the RTS community something they hadn't seen before, and still to this day, many of the features in BR have not been attempted in other, bigger RTS's.

We have gotten the rights to BR back and now, we own the whole thing. Although I can't make any promises, Mike and I still want to make BR2. We have binders full of world history and data as well as notes for future games in that universe. Our hope is to someday build enough cash reserves to self publish the game. Keep the faith, and someday BR2 will be a reality.

Thanks again for your support and love of the game. I couldn't ask for a better Christmas present!
