Zao 3 #1 Posted December 13, 2006 What is exactly doing the shale armor? Adding a resistance to something to the unit, increasing its global defense or totally modifying all its weaknesses and resistances? Or it does nothing, except giving another look at the unit? ( that would be completely stupid. )
{HeRo}GeneralDS 4 #2 Posted December 13, 2006 read the description of shale armor in the game... It raises resistances to everything, but raises it against magic higher than the others...
Zao 3 #3 Posted December 13, 2006 I have the FR version, and some descriptions aren't accurate at all, so I don't rely on them.
{HeRo}GeneralDS 4 #4 Posted February 14, 2007 well there are things that people call patches and updates, they come with little text documents listing changes to the game and changes to descriptions in the user manual. Just remember that not only does Shale Armor make a unit look cool, it also raises resistances with magic being the highest raised of them...maybe that property is why the lotus enslaved the wolf to mine shale, because of it being related to magic.. *notices a black colored rock on the ground with purple stripes...picks up the huge chunk and realizes it is shale. After inspection, begins to carve the chunk into special pieces to attach to current armor...*
Aramid 2 #5 Posted February 14, 2007 SHALE ARMOR is the best... anyway I hope Gaihla had better resistances than normal units....
{HeRo}GeneralDS 4 #6 Posted February 14, 2007 well no one is perfect...besides the wolf are good healers anyway ^.^ especially when they get the herbalists upgrade to speed up the recover rate... *currently working on an RPG using RPG Maker XP for the computer*
samuraispirit 0 #7 Posted February 16, 2007 I think the shale armor isn´t important for the game because all your units can get theyr armor in this special buidling (I don´t know the name of it). That only cost a few rice and water and not hitpoints from the shale lord.
{HeRo}GeneralDS 4 #8 Posted February 17, 2007 the building name is the shalery...and shale armor is important for the game because without it, almost all wolf units would end up dead if they decided to attack a lotus head on...shale armor helps defend against all damage types, especially magic... samuraispirit 0 #9 Posted February 19, 2007 Yes but when you have a shalery you don´t need the armor of the shale lord. I don´t mean that you don´t need the shale armor (sorry) but you don´t need the shale lord for that when you got a shalery.
jin_hong_kang 0 #10 Posted February 22, 2007 serpent can still block this. i cant seem to remember what is that unit.
Izaak 3 #11 Posted March 2, 2007 Swordsmen have a Battle Gear that 'Steals' Battle Gears from enemies. What's more, its an Area Of Effect attack. All clans have a Tier 1 unit with an unbelievably important Battle Gear. Lotus Staff Adepts have the well known Dark Canopy; Dragon Geishas have Sacrifice; Serpent Swordsmen have Pilfer and Wolf Brawlers have Zen Punch. Its important to recognize these when planning a strategy. -Izaak, Lord of the Lotus Clan.
Speedy 11 #12 Posted March 2, 2007 The Dragon Geisha's Sacrifice is not very good and it's not easy to use effectively either, I think the Spearman's Whirling Spear is a better 1st tier BG for Dragon.
Aramid 2 #13 Posted March 3, 2007 Another input, I guess its best to summon the Shale Lord because you will no longer need the shalery and will not cost you rice and water armoring your units. Shale Lord does that free. You can also use his battle gear at wolf allies. !!!
KT'07 0 #14 Posted April 1, 2007 Plus when you want to go directly attack the next enemy, you don't have to go back to base in order to armor your army.
the necromancer 2 #15 Posted May 7, 2008 i find shale armour so awesome, that i rarely bother giving units their other BG's also the shale lord is awesome XD
Staff Adept 1 #16 Posted May 8, 2008 I prefer the other exclusive Battle gears for wolf units in long skirmishes with 6-8 players.
WolfMaster 0 #17 Posted December 10, 2008 its a godly BG of the WOLF clan!!!
firsthonorboy 1 #18 Posted April 6, 2009 Shale armor is very useful, but it raises resistance to only three things: magic, piercing, and fire attacks. It might seem that it defends against everything else too, but it doesn't.

Adding a resistance to something to the unit, increasing its global defense or totally modifying all its weaknesses and resistances? Or it does nothing, except giving another look at the unit? ( that would be completely stupid. ) shale armor raises the deffence values of unit for cutting pierce blunt fire and explossive with 25% and magic with 50% Another input, I guess its best to summon the Shale Lord because you will no longer need the shalery and will not cost you rice and water armoring your units. Shale Lord does that free. You can also use his battle gear at wolf allies. !!! It is not for free he sacrafices hp to give the shale, but it is small amount and with wolf regeneration .... further more if you have natural healing upgrade it is really for free
