Conrad Buff 243 #1 Posted July 15, 2013 So I'm sure most of you are aware of the George Zimmerman Trial that has flooded the media reports. I haven't looked much into it but I know general information pertaining to the case. What are your opinions on the case in general and the not guilty verdict? I won't state my opinion as I don't have much of an opinion. I just want to know what all of you are thinking.

- Mike - 2,728 #7 Posted July 15, 2013 The whole thing shouldn't have even been made public, no reason to. http://puu.sh/3DaIz.jpg And then there's all this talk of Zimmerman being white, he's not in the sense that you'd call Obama fully black.

Nano 7,892 #9 Posted July 15, 2013 This was exactly my comment. The zimmerman trial was completely blown out of proportion. The fact of the matter is, there is little to no evidence George Z's actions were racially motivated. There are still major civil rights issues within the U.S. and leaders of those causes took this case as an example to champion them since it was getting a lot of press because of the "stand your ground" law in FL which allows you to defend yourself without running first (with deadly force). I haven't looked much into it but I know general information pertaining to the case. What are your opinions on the case in general and the not guilty verdict? Nope. Not most are aware, because, outside 'murrica - and most people live there - this isn't even covered by the media.

bukowski 1,203 #17 Posted July 16, 2013 That's messed up to joke about that. Nope. It's not. You know what's messed up though? To ask for opinions, when not even giving your own, and then complain about the responses you get. What you're doing is called "baiting", so cut the shit.
Conrad Buff 243 #18 Posted July 16, 2013 Haha... really man? Cmon... you have a disturbing sense of humor if you think that cute little animation was funny. Anyways I think that Zimmerman was rightfully not guilty and that he had a right to defend himself. I think it's wrong to joke about a murder. That's all I have to say to you, good day sir. +Dr. Obvious 14,606 #21 Posted July 16, 2013 So. From what i got, one guy is running after the other guy, telling him to stop. Second guy doesn't want to. The end up facing each other somewhere in a dark alley, and the guy with the gun survives. You know what i don't like about the US? Guns. Because, guns don't make people more responsible, but only more dangerous.I have no idea what happened in that dark alley - noone really know but those two who were there, one is dead, the other heavily biased. But he gets away without any penalty, ALTOUGH he was the one trying to force someone to do something without any legal reason, ALTHOUGH he forced the other person to deal with his aggression, ALTHOUGH he ended up killing that other person. So yeah. If that isn't the best excuse ever for wild, maniac, and totally stupid vigilate-ism, i don't know what else would be. See someone doing something you think isn't right? Follow them, force yourself on them, and when they try to get away from you by force, kill him/her/it in "self-defense". Self-defense that wouldn't even have been necessary if this situation wouldn't have been escalated by the same person that suddenly had to defend themselves... So, next: go into a black neighbourhood, prance around calling them "n***ers", and when they start attacking you, kill them claiming self-defense.(which probably is totally exagerated, but hey, why not). tl;dr: if you carry a gun, you should always held responsible for what happens with that gun.

(which probably is totally exagerated, but hey, why not). tl;dr: if you carry a gun, you should always held responsible for what happens with that gun. The "Stand your Ground" law doesn't just apply to guns. He could have killed him in self defense with a knife, with his bare hands, by slamming his head into the ground, etc. etc. It just so happens that he used a gun to kill Treyvon. There is no significant evidence one way or the other who was the bad guy. As such, he was found innocent because there is no proof he did anything wrong. As for the not liking guns, you are certainly welcome to your opinion. I have a license to carry and do so every day. Never had to pull it but I'm happy to know that if I did have to do so and kill someone in self defense to stop an event or protect myself or my family I couldn't be dragged into court by the survivor's family or go off to prison for a simple act of protection. Those protections are a direct result of "stand your ground" and other laws.

point 2,268 #24 Posted July 16, 2013 I would argue that even if there was any serious evidence the court would have most likely found him not guilty to prevent latinos feeling that the court is racially biased towards them. We'll never know who was in the right, but killing someone even in self-defence is always wrong. I don't care if he shot him, stabbed him, or just beat him; I'll never give my support to Zimmerman and feel that his action were justified. Or did the US recently devolve into a kill or be killed society? With over 100 cases of recorded homicide per year this is not the first nor will it be the last case where justice will be questioned and people will argue over what truly happened so I don't care to argue about the Zimmerman case much. Let the US do it's thing, because it's not like I can do anything to change what they should have done. What's done is done and what's happened has happened; those who use past examples to show how we should change are fools, they only see problems in the past which we can fix, and don't look to the future. Possum 10,776 #25 Posted July 16, 2013 Hietha, get attacked in the street, then see how you feel about not being allowed to carry a weapon. And by attacked, I mean at night, by a group of thugs, one friend with you, for no legitimate reason whatsoever. Literally, just walking down the road, said nothing at all, made no gesture, and they go for us anyway. Its so, so, so much more scary than you think, especially when you have no way to defend yourself at all. Changed me.
