If you're looking to play in a team, need an extra person, want to play with someone in particular or are just curious about how good you are compared with other players, here is a list of DotA2 players within or associated with Lotus. Anyone not in the clan or who used to be who wants adding just post up and I'll add you to the list.

I've never played ranked, as my team needs a fifth man and you can't play with just four.

I have only really focused on WD since I started playing and while I've been learning the game.  I am trying different non support heroes out with bots to get used to the abilities and figure out builds but I can't choose one I like playing.  Currently trying to figure out decent initial builds for Sven and Wraith King.  Obviously when you get better at the game it does depend on what you're up against.

I need to play something other than WD against real peeps!

Luna is the first hero I absolutely loved. Doc even sent me a postcard during Christmas of her. Dat ass xD

Though she's pretty squishy, but the more you play a hero, the better you get. There are heroes I suck at, but I'm good with the female heroes. Or at least i like to think so.

 

My personal favorites are Luna and Legion Commander really.

Especially LC, get some duels in. We were deffing, other team got a rapier, I grabbed it. I kept deffing, they kept suiciding. Bought a second rapier. Snuck into their base. WHACK WHACK, down went the ancient xD

The point is: if you run into a losing streak (which can happen easily), and you end up in an MMR of less than 2500, you're going to have a hard time to get out of it.

 

My favourites so far:

* a Pudge that went AFK through half the ranked game, then told us to fuck off because "if you nerds don't have a life, that's your problem", also started hooking his teammates back at the most inconveient times

* a Pudge that started with cursing everyone, then fed the whole time (0/19), sent out courier to death, andd finally bought a gem to give it to our enemies when our Riki started getting kills

* a Windranger, who only tried "to get as far as he could" in running straight ahead, and finally, after 0/28, made it into the enemy spawn at the end

* a Nyx that started with "mid or feed", and of course started feeding consequently

 

 

I would join a 5 person team for ranked games, but nothing else. If i can't trust people to at least try decently, i won't bother playing ranked games anymore.

You still could've told us earlier, ffs. Ladies and Gentlemen, the woman that had a over 1000 damage per hit, but didn't tell anyway that she could've finished the game within seconds. When we finally "invited" her to go and kill their Ancient, the game was over after 45sec. Yes, that includes walking time from our Ancient to their Ancient.

I don't know much about MMR (only read one page on how it works) but is it really so fragile that if you lose a few games you're f00ked?  That seems pretty flawed.  I thought you just got MMR "points" (not sure if they're called points) when you won which went towards your total.  I guess it depends who you play against...not everyone can be 5k plus

It's basically: you lose more points when you lose than you gain when you win. I think 25 on a loss, 23 on a win or so... so climbing back up is really really hard, and as it is a team game, you're very very dependant on the rest of the team being good enough and also in a mood to win and not to fuck around.

You don't in Dota2...playing versus bots counts isn't tracked on items, profiles or MMR.
