Yeah, and notice the "we are still working on the xbox update" horseshit. Whatever happpened to Gabe and his no consoles policy? Now we are going to have to wait for them to finish up adapting all the content to the 360, which god know how long that will take. Then, they will spend another year on some silly little update, then another year making L4D shittier than it already is. Once they are all done with those, 4 or 5 years later, we will get ALL the class updates, just in time for people to stop playing the game because it's ten years old. But we all know valve loves stringing us along with this slow leak of content to keep us interested well beyond the typical playtime, and I'm sure they'll continue to torture us until we both love and hate them. We will be like crack addicts - buying up every game they make from now until eternity, at which point Gabe will be so rich that he could buy the planet and become it's fat overlord.

P.S. WHERE THE HELL IS HL2 EP. 3, HUH? How bout we get on that one.

Sniper is my least played class so I don't even know if I could play sniper well enough to get the achievements.

I'll probably be going spy for this one :)

Sniping snipers is annoying, so I probably won't play sniper for a while after it's released. I'll probably play spy and go stab all the noob snipers and all.

actually I thought they would do a duel release of spy and engie after the scout. IF they did engie or spy it would make the game unbalanc: spies could sapper bomb away, engies with new guns take forever to sap, thus making everyone go engie or spy spam. Pretty sure solder and demo are last on the to-do-list.

Crossing fingers they don't give sniper 2 headshot kills per shot! I know Phantom and Oshnosh would love that. I do love the Boomarang idea. Maybe that would put people to sleep similiar to the scout's bonk.

When they update engy they are going to give alternate weapons for the following:

Shotgun

Pistol

Wrench

THey are not going to change the constructor or destructor.

Instead I think they should have been releasing an update or two for every class at the same time so that way everything stays balanced and no one class has uber good weapons and others don't.

Yeah... despite the fact that you give up things, pretty much every medic worth their salt uses the ubersaw, most scouts are using the force a nature, most pyros are using the axetinguisher, and so on. There's always at least one weapon that's almsot universally better than the other, basiclya n upgrade rather than a trade-off. Makes that class better.

I think they did pretty well on the Scout update; none of the weapons are vastly inferior or superior to their replacements. I don't see a noticeably larger population using FaN or Scattergun, it's pretty even from what I've seen.

But the Medic really has two "if you don't use this you're silly" weapons. I for one never want to meet another battle Medic who only uses the syringe gun. Even the blutsauger is more useful in combat.

Edit: This will be a prime opportunity to Bonk my way past their line of sight in order to get some Bat-taunt kills. Flying Sniper bodies... delicious.

I must say I am quite enthralled that they're going sniper. I probably play more sniper than anything now a days other than soldier/pyro.

I'd like to see Valve add something to the Sniper that would make them more useful in different situations. An idea I have is to give them invisibility, like the spy. This would allow the sniper to sneak behind enemy lines (think badwater) and snipe a person or two. Obviously your position would be given away since the game shows you who killed you, but that's where the skill comes in. You'd have to sneak off and find a different position. Since the sniper rifle is long ranged and takes time to fully charge, you'd have to find a position that gives you a good view, but far enough away not to be mowed down while you wait for the rifle to charge. Also the sniper wouldn't be able to deguise, so you'd have to watch out for sentries and the sort. Basically the sniper would be able to play a covert ops role.

The original scout update gave the scout a defensive purpose to those skilled enough with the bat and ball. Although now that you have to be 20 feet to stun someone, plus stunned people are basically invincible, making it useless. Pyro with compression blast or demo is much more effective at stopping ubers. Point is, the scout was expanded to handle different situations in the game, hopefully Valve will add that concept to the sniper.

I'm going with the crossbow conjecture. Since it would have an arc and you'd have to lead the bolt, it would make sense to be closer up. Who knows what the advantages are; someone suggested fixed zoom damage, like 100 body shot 250 headshot, or movement speed reduction.

Or you just use the main Sniper rifle (if it ain't broke, don't fix it) and see what alternatives Valve is going to release for the SMG and Kukri. As someone who plays Sniper a lot, I'm of the mind that whatever Valve releases as an alt to the sniper rifle isn't going to be any better than an insta-kill weapon. Seriously, if you're good with headshots, the sniper rifle is like the Insta-Gib plasma rifle from UT only slower. Hopefully Valve will give a decent alt to the (almost) useless SMG. The Kukri is fairly useful, especially when you get a crit. Plus, it's badass.

I'd assume something with a required minimum range from the target, but with more of a perk, like lowered or no zooming being required.

However, Nket and I have decided it will be the elephant gun, that fires elephants. Don't worry Valve, we got this.
