I gotta tell ya, that just sounds retarded. being able to slow people down or blow them back is one thing, making them unable to do anything is STUPID.

Now the question on everyone's mind: Does it remove double jump completely, or only when you're holding the bat?

I'm pretty sure that means you won't be able to double jump while you have it equipped. In my eyes, that gives the Scout a more defensive role, because he can stop ubers or slow down rushes.

I hope so, but that seems like such a small downside when you can just double jump with another weapon then switch to the bat.

Dude by saying when you have it equipped he means when it's in your loadout not when you have it out infront of you. I think that's how it'll be because of quickswitch.

Arena_Watchtower and CP_Junction.

I'm more interested in the CP map, especially since the Arena map looks like it's going to be one giant clusterfuck of snipers. I can see it now... it's like 2fort, only instead of being a pussy and running back to the respawn when you get hit, you take your lumps like a man. Yeah... that map will be played by snipers, spies, and scouts. Maybe a medic.

Junction actually looks promising. I can't really tell how big it is from the pictures, but it looks really closed off... my only concern is that the lack of open space will make it really easy to defend.

Why are people talking about the bat as if its a bad thing. Just wondering, has anyone here actually used it?

This is Valve. Give them a little credit. I think they have earned the respect to have their games tried out before they get bashed. Just a little IMO

What was the developers commentary on what was needed for scout improvement. I remember a lenthy article on the thought process for the hwguy.

They wanted to make scout able to deal with sentries but that's all I know. I guess the "miss" from the drink is their solution.

Also, I am going to play heavy with natasha and engineer for a least a week after the scout update.

That doesn't really "deal" with sentries. If you read the fine print, it also says it slows the Scout down for several seconds afterwards. I'm betting it'll be a 15 boost for 5 seconds, followed by a 15 percent decrease for 5 seconds. You'll be able to get past the sentries and grab the intel, but you won't be able to get away from the engies that are chasing you down.
