Summed up, what's everyone playing? >>

Dragonman warlock.

Here is my mostly completed character sheet for anyone interested: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9l1lJc03xmyS2RaUkNLQkt4Nm8

I will be a guardian to one of you (whether your character wants that or not) but if you would like to have a guardian as part of your background let me know and I'll customize my role/actions accordingly.

Not sure what to play or what should mesh well with the rest

Aka what role are you missing?

I'm half thinking of going back to my ranger >>

Huh. How did you get that onto Google Drive? I couldn't open it directly from drive because it was a zip file, had to download it then extract

Also Obvi, if you go dex ranger you'll hit 19/20 times, you can get a ridiculous attack bonus XD

I dropped the PDF from my computer into the drive folder. Then I just right clicked the file and chose to make it visible to anyone with the link. You should be able to download or view it and shouldn't need a google account to access it.

Before I choose my fighting style DB, will you allow Great Weapon Fighting's bonus extend to Divine Smite and other buff spells?

Mine so far...all done by hand using the book as I wasn't sure how to generate using OrcPub etc and wanted to understand it rather than have it done for me.

I will make a new version once all the bits are filled out and in the right place, I'm kind of learning as I go and I know some things are not in the right place or shouldn't be on there.  I should have it done by tomorrow I think.  The backstory is more or less done.

Let me know if you get stuck on anything.  I don't have all the answers but I've got a handle on the basics.  Looks like a great start so far.  Brewer huh?  That'll be a nice addition to the party... that being said I'm a little scared by what you mean by "plentiful" hair... I'm not going to think on that one too long.

Just spent 2 hours on this, let me know if I did anything wrong

For some reason when I click this link it just asks me to log into my own account.  After I do it does not give me the option to view your file.  Can you double check that's the right link?  I'm eager to take a look!

Excellent. This is what I'm looking for - you have a clear concept and the stats match. We'll have to talk more about this clan of yours and the Dragonman/Dragon relationship.

You may play whatever you wish of course, but the group is currently lacking melee support and a rogue.

The golden rule on that stuff is that if it's skill based it can be buffed.

Great work so far, though you may want to consider trading either your CHA or STR into that WIS stat as WIS is vital for monks.

Looks great, and the link works! I was thinking that since you're not benefiting from a DEX bonus you might want to go heavy armor?

Paladin starting gear goes up to chain mail but i can handle all the armor on the list, so give me the best you got :D

You're all starting at fifth level and there's no reason you wouldn't have upgraded to full plate in that time. Enjoy your armor sir knight.

While I'm not the type to rely on protectors, I'll do anything to defeat my enemies, and if that means enlisting dragonborn bodyguards, so be it :)

Edit: Your patron has a good eye for heroes XD

Yeah...I think I was trying to add more description than needed and it made it sound just plain weird!

you may want to consider trading either your CHA or STR into that WIS stat as WIS is vital for monks.

I was re-reading the Monk stuff tonight and realised I'd probably left my WIS slightly wanting. I'll shuffle the numbers round, I kept my original rolls noted down just in case.

Thanks for the pointers though. My biggest worry is trying to make my back story fit too much and accidentally making him less dwarf like...or far too hairy ecksdee.

You may play whatever you wish of course, but the group is currently lacking melee support and a rogue.

I'm thinking at the moment which monastic background to take and I'm thinking Way of Shadow as it fits my back story better. With that in mind do I not have melee support and rogue like abilities to offer? You know this stuff better than me, I just wondered.

Monks are melee characters to their core, but they don't have the damage output that a Fighter or Barbarian has, and while taking the Path of Shadow will put you in the realm of the sneaky man, it's not the same as a Rogue. You've kinda got a team of all support, and like TF2 or Overwatch you'll want to fill in the gaps with the right classes. It's not a deal breaker if you don't, but it'll change how some encounters and adventures are handled.

I'll reroll my character. I'll go fighter this time. Was my original plan anyway to be honest, but I thought you had enough melee.

I'll whip something up when I'm home again, or if someone wants to come abduct me from work?

DB, what exactly would you need the rogue for? Fighting or secondary skills?

Might actually fit well into the half dwarf half elf concept... ^^

Minus shooting axes from longbows. Although. You never know.

Opening locks and DEX saves mostly, but they do have a lot of useful skills. There will be things that Fever and Widow will be able to do to cover that role, but it would be nice not to have to lean on them for that. Your party is diverse enough that there aren't any obvious weak points that I can think of, but it's always good to have your OG D&D classes covered.

2000 years ago the known world of Tirione was ruled by an overking and queen Gadaric and Kaethe Stormcrown. The overking would issue commands to the underkings of the other five major continents and surrounding lands of Eliond. The Dwarven and Elven kingdoms were completely separate and had their own rulers and systems of government, and there would often be wars over land or resources between the human, elven, and dwarven territories. Although often bloody, and very much xenophobic, this system of rule worked well for all the respective kingdoms until the overking and queen were murdered. As prince Eberwolf took the throne, many of the underkings mutinied saying that they alone knew what was best for their people and they would no longer live under the thumb of an overking. Eberwolf declared war on his own people in response, using a secret army of mages he had assembled over the last 10 years, and they raised demons and all kinds of hellspawn to rain death on traitors to the crown. The whole of the world descended into chaos.

Many of the Dwarf clans took this opportunity to come out of their mountain fortresses and lay waste to human settlements. Demons and Devils began to run rampant across the land, and whole cities were lost. Eberwolf's forces began worship of a newly resurrected god named Bhaal, and carrying banners with the skull and blood drops into battle. Ritual sacrifice and murder became the only other pastime besides all out war. Crops were burned along with the cities, and the sky became black with smoke and crows.

The Elves had been splitting into three schools of thought at this time - stay out of it all, join with Eberwolf and accept his promises of power and glory, or side with the clearly losing humans still left alive. Those elves that chose to stay out of the fight defended the forests from any who entered but otherwise stayed hidden - these are the Yeste' or "first" elves. Those who decided to accept Eberwolf's promises of power were forever changed into the black skinned Drow. Those who chose to fight for what little good was left in humanity said to the Yeste' "We will go unto the Dragons for help, and they will fight with us because these are their lands as well." The Yeste' called them fools or "amada" in the elven tongue, for believing that the Dragons would help them fight for humans.

As the Amada traveled towards the lairs of dragons they came to humans and dwarves and told them that only together could they rid the world of evil. Larger and larger these armies grew, until they came to the dragons saying, "Fight and die with us, for this is your home".

Thousands of dragons died, and millions of humans, dwarves, elves, and halflings, but in the end Eberwolf was finally killed and his forces destroyed. In the aftermath, any known Bhall worshiper was immediately put to death, and the shrines to the God of Murder were brought down.

It is the peace, harmony, and freedom from demonic forces that all races have enjoyed for the last 1800 years that makes this the "great" war.
