Nano gave me access to version 5, and if a couple people are interested I'll start building my own setting ( I may do this anyway just for fun). There have been a few things about D&D that have bothered me and I'd like to fix them. Never cared for the idea that races could be considered "monsters" and "evil". I think that the idea that there are (or have been) other heroes in your game setting is distracting at best. Finally, I'd like there to be more of a reward/punishment system for using magic and divine spells.

I'll do the brewing. If it's a custom race I might consider it, but the standard and expanded classes pretty much cover everything that makes sense.

Starting at a higher level is fine, it just means you won't be fighting goblins and giant spiders all the time. If everyone agrees, then this is a done deal.

 

Anything that involves devotion to members of the party is great.

5.0 is much simpler than 3.5. Magic is also much simpler now
