I think all Bhaal worshippers being exterminated kind of kills my backstory

The cults have reappeared only in the last 5 years, and most people believe that it's only a tiny following of malcontents living in the wilds and pretending that they have magic and power. Nothing to worry about.

The current state of the world:      Most of the world is wilderness dotted with the ruins of old military forts, shrines to forgotten gods, and haunted cities. There are a few larger cities of mixed races, but most of what you'll encounter will be rural villages - and those will be few and far between. There aren't generally kings anymore, and that type of government has been replaced by a ruling counsel that is advised by merchant guilds. When you see "elven city" or "dwarven city" that just means that the architecture and dominate race will be just that, but the heavily populated city will have a mixture of all races. The dragons are very few now and rarely seen, but during and since the war we have been introduced to the Dragonkin clans who serve as their emissaries. While the land is generally peaceful, there still are bands of goblinoids, thieves, gnolls, barbarians, and lizardmen, that continue to cause trouble. People generally don't go exploring the wilds and tales of monsters are incredibly rare, but it is known that dark and terrible things can still be found - if you go looking for them.

Oh yes, Obvi brought up the starting gold question right away (he is playing a rogue after all). You will all start with 500 + 1D10 x 25gp and I highly recommend that you spend some of that on better equipment than what you get as a level one character. Exceptions to this rule may include our Druid and Monk as they have very little use for money, but all of you have been adventuring for years and should have nice clothes, custom gear, etc.

Ehem. Nothing to do with me being Rogue ... O:^)

Other question: do we all have mounts or not? It's a bit hard for a mixed group to move forward, and i'm not entirely sure i should buy a cart... xD

Looks great! Make sure you get your saving throws filled in, give us a brief description of what your character looks like and how you became the bad ass you are today - then you're done!

Here's a good list of loot you can filter by rarity. Uncommon = 500gp, common = 100gp (dmg 129). (If anyone has a different way of determining value please share!)

https://donjon.bin.sh/5e/magic_items/

Do you have any problem if I grab a ring of mind shielding and winged boots?

I am so tempted to change into a Halfling and ride a mastiff into my adventures... xD

So we can start with different "starting items"?

For example, I calculated I have 675 gp

Was thinking of going for a warhorse 400 gp, but leaves me not a lot of money for a decent armor etc (as an officer, not that I know really). Can we basically grab a special item or how does it work?

500+(9*25) = 725

Assuming uncommon is 500 (boots) and ring is common (100) that'd leave me with a little left for a few healing pots.

I wish there was just a flat pricelist somewhere...

I use this...

(Tentacle Rod. 5000 gold. I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going)

I want you guys to earn your magical items. That being said, magic is extremely rare in this world so you'll have to loot items or have them made by collecting "ingredients".

You should all be starting with custom gear, masterwork items, and gifts from very thankful people. YOU ARE THE HEROES OF LEGEND. Masterwork items add 300gp to cost and give enhancement bonuses

Allrighty....

Not much is known about Annûn, the Dungeoneer. He is said to travel alone into remote dungeons and found immense and vast treasures there.

He's tall, for a dwarf, and rather slim. clad in dark clothes. It is said that his face - rarely seen as he prefers to walk hooded - bears deep scars, and is framed by long black hair and a short by sturdy beard. His eyes shine like silver, even under his hood.

He's been rumoured to have freed quite some slaves, and to have slain some smaller slaver guilds with a sword like burning silver, a topic he always turns down when brought up.

Or so the people of the land say.

Well we are a happy bunch, arent we! A moody hooded dwarf, a silent dragonman, a pissed off human fighter, a paladin prone to raging, and a mysterious druid.

Our ever cheerful monk Thoradin has his work cut out for him.

It's a really interesting group! One thing that you all immediately have in common is that you are what you are because you've faced against the monsters and evil that most don't even believe exists!

On magic items: With the collecting of ingredients you'll be able to have specific effects built into your items and I get quests generated for me!

I want to get together this Sunday at 17:00 MST if possible to at least discuss.

Talk about how your characters reputations leaked out into the world and how you may have heard about one another.

How Kriv met koko is one of his favorite stories:

*grunts* met at tavern. Pretty woman approached him. Tricky Shapeshifter. Great sword. Never dropped his tankard. Half a shape shifter.

*goes back to complete silence*

Well...as a young 'un...I spent a great amount of time with my close friend Arakvir, off having adventures and exploring the mines, ridges and forests of our territory...when we were a little older we introduced a little "sport" into these adventures by stalking and trapping orcs who strayed too far from their foul pit...then taking great pleasure in despatching them in a multitude of sadistic ways, before taking back a body part as a trophy which we would show off to our elders outside the tavern.  Bogdan SwiftHammer even made us a trophy cabinet...he nailed each and every one of our trophies onto the side of the stables outside the tavern...good times!

This ingenuity at despatching of the orcs did not go unnoticed by the clan chief and he admired how keen we were to protect the clan and invited us to begin training to join his bodyguard.  On one of our many training missions I became seperated from Arakvir and was ambushed by large group of orcs and narrowly escaped with my life by floating down river...well...it was more drowning down the river than floating but I managed to put some distance between myself and my pursuers...alas in my frantic battle to escape, I'd taken a hefty blow to the shoulder and I realised I was slowly being poisoned.  Feeling like I'd had a flaggon too many and realising I was close to collapse and as I was already half drowned, I somehow dragged myself out of the raging river, eventually collapsing not far from the river bank.  By some unknown guiding hand a group of monks found me some hours later and took me to their monastery.  They spent twenty two days and nights trying to bring me out of the depths of my delerium...I'd narrowly escpaped with my life and would forever be in their debt.

Once I was fully recovered, I returned to the clan and told them of my miracle escape some thirty days previous.  After much thought the chief decided that we owed the monastery a great debt, and I was to repay that debt by serving them for one full week for every day they nursed me back to health.  I spent seven months serving them and living alonside them and then it was by mutual agreement that I would study under them.  My position as one of the chiefs bodyguard would be held until my training was complete and I felt I was ready to settle down back within the clan.

I've spent a good deal of my recent years studying the Way of the Shadow, shunning the light and flitting through the shadows, learning to wear the night like a cloak darker than the heart of a skull dragon.  This has led me to become not only a master of stealth, subterfuge and all round general sneakery...but also a master in the noble art of keeping a fine cellar for the brewing of the finest, golden mead...no brew, won't do...so you can expect me to keep you hydrated when we're on the road!

My training has made me more or less a hermit...but on my errands and missions for the monastery I have heard tale and whisper of y'all...I can see I am amongst some exceptional talent...so, bring forth a tankard and tell your tale...

Okay, so we need to come up with a time that's going to work for everyone. Sounds like mornings or early afternoon my time, so that can't be Sun, Mon, or Wed.

I should be able to do Fridays and Saturdays, probably nights, as my other D&D group with school friends meets in the afternoons or weekdays after school
