Anyone play D&D?

Recommended Posts

So Saturday around 6pm euro/5pm UK/11am EST/9am mountain time?  Still gives people time to go out in the evening this side of the pond...making an assumption here that Saturday evening is the time people are most likely to have a thing on, Denver time is same as DB's "mountain time"  and I can't remember where Nano is based.

I'll just work around whatever

Talk about how your characters reputations leaked out into the world and how you may have heard about one another.

Commander Greycastle was part of a kingdom's "magical unit". Each knight was paired with a warlock to form a duo on the battlefield. The knight protected the warlock, the warlock protected the knight. The idea was that both magic as normal weapons could create the perfect soldier or team.

There were about a dozen of them, including Greycaste and her warlock, Dorn. They were paired to complement each other, yin and yang, as every unit was. Throughout the years the company was getting more and more well-known for their feats and their wins, and occasional losses. More young knights started to join, paired off with their respective warlock. Both training day and night to become a perfect team. While the older generation felt camradry with their mate, the younger generation was getting more disgruntled with the situation they were placed. They had known the conditions, but knowing and living them were two different aspects.

The warlocks were getting disgruntled, as they felt they deserved more than being a caged hound. The knights were getting disgruntled in return, as they felt they were on guard duty most of the time. The company which once had cohesion, started to crumble.

The crushing defeat came months later when some of the younger initiates rioted. The remaining knights and warlocks tried to hold them off, but were defeated in the end and slaughtered. They left their commander alive, barely, as a mockery of what once was.

---

Not sure if coherent. I've got this idea of a tandem unit (knight + warlock) where the knights protects the warlocks from physical attacks, while the warlock protects from magical attacks. So they both can fight longer on the field.

Where basically they make each other stronger than being on their own. Each is paired off with someone else. Say someone is a stickler for rules, the other pair is the complete opposite. Unity brings strength etc.

Your backstory might fit better with nano's than mine :)

Okay, so we need to come up with a time that's going to work for everyone. Sounds like mornings or early afternoon my time, so that can't be Sun, Mon, or Wed.

Weekends are strongly preferred for me. Saturday is good as long as I know ahead of time. I'm petty flexible with time and don't mind playing in the morning hour to accommodate the EU crowd.

Was not supposed to steal your thunder xD

I honestly stole it from a book more or less (Mazalan).And partially from a VN where a necromancer is paired with a paladin (light vs evil power)

Still have to finish that VN, may do that now >>

Alright, I can't play this Saturday because my sister is coming to visit, but other than that it looks like we can all do Saturdays.

DB = Saturdays yes

Nano = Saturdays yes

Fever = Saturdays yes

Obvi = "can't play during the week" I'm guessing that means Saturday is fine

Koko = Saturdays yes

Widow = ????

Skaila = ????

...and just as a reminder, I am not allowing you to start play with magic items unless you can make them yourself. Magic is incredibly rare in this world! There are only a handful of craftsmen that are capable of producing new magic items and they not only will charge you an arm and a leg (not literally) but they will demand that you quest for the special ingredients for these items. The items that are currently in the game world will most likely be left over from the Great War, and either be Elven, Dwarven, or Demonic in origin. Even though the people will be surprisingly open minded when it comes to race (they'll let orcs and goblins, gnolls, lizardmen, live in town if they're nice), they are very superstitious when it comes to magic. Likely, they'd throw a magic item in a nearby swamp to get rid of it's "evil presence" and depending on the community either shun, harass, or murder a Tiefling character.

Here's the game link one more time:   https://app.roll20.net/join/1440161/jp4tMw

and I promoted everyone that's currently in Roll20 to GM so that you have permissions for everything you need to do.

So healing potions are technically a magical item, is that off limits if I don't have a potion making kit? I'm just not sure where the line is drawn.

Also do we have to put our sheets in roll20? I remember it as a supremely frustrating and pointless endeavor last time...

No HP pots would suck. I can't even find where to upload our sheets in roll20 so :/

Unless you're the victim of a lasting effect (like poison or disease) you'll regain all of your hit points after a long rest (eight hours of sleep), so health potions are less useful. If you all want healing potions, I will start you off with 1 per person.

The character inputs will be under the journal tab in the upper right part of your screen. Click "journal" and then add character. I made a sample so that you can see how some of the fields generate bonuses and such on their own. Filling this in is good because it'll attach to your characters token, and you'll be able to click one button to attack with arms and make saving throws and such.

...uh... i bought 2 healing potions... hmm.

So it would be advisable to instead buy something, let's say, like neutralise poison or so?

Healing potions was meant as an example, sorry let me clarify what I meant. Almost everything that has an effect (consumable items like potions and scrolls, enchanted weps, armor or support items) is magical in a traditional d&d universe. So is all of that super rare now and off limits unless I can make it?

*ahem*...well...not to big my own brewing skills up but my ale has been regarded as "magic"....just sayin'

The short answer is yes.

If you have the ability to cast spells, whether arcane or divine, you could craft those spells into a potion or a scroll instead. I won't require a special skill or feat to do that if you could just as easily cast the spell without going through the trouble.

Enchanted armor and weapons can be found in the world or custom made by questing for the ingredients and paying a hefty amount of gold to one of few blacksmiths that can do that sort of thing.

Extention of plan:

Add Blacksmith to talents

Pretend to create magical items for team

Get all the gold

Profit on a small island in the southern seas

Saturdays is a pain for me, most of my stuff is on in the evening, so the later the better for me. Free all Sundays.
I'll update my character sheet when i get home tonight. The same with my backstory, (its in note form atm).

The number of intersections in these timeslots is awfully small.

True but weekdays are wiped out due to timezones and with family, work, children and friends I'm surprised we even have a potential slot at the weekends. I'll take it if we can all do it xD

Saturdays it is, now we need to settle on a time. I can do any time, and waking up early is not a problem.

Widow, we are probably going to need to go earlier rather than later so let us know exactly when you are "doing stuff" so we can try to include you.

I can do any time provided I don't have real world events I need to attend (bleh)
