I don´t got Winter of the Wolf and I hadn´t ever beaten Kenjis journey. In the dragon campaign I was coming to the mission where I have to defend a monk monastery and in the serpent campaign I was coming to the mission where I have to defend Serpentholm against Otomo and the Wolf.

the second serpentholm is realy difficult, i was at both kenji-journeys at this one, but i deleted the game then to make mb for the wotw-download, but theres at the kenjis journey an error so it is unplayable, but graybacks journey is easier than the tutorial :P (i has only 2 game overs when the pitch-slinger died and the swordman + x-bow destroyed the temple of the ai^^)

i think gaybacks journey is a wolf-tutorial

But I was bored in the serpent campaign where I had to defend the great geisha house (on the beginning of the campaign I don´t know how it is called in english). In dragon at the first time I was overruned by all these wolfes (but sometimes it is easy in dragon too so it changes sometimes). But in serpent all these few lotus units. That is so easy. Why serpent campaign is so easy in this mission and dragon so hard? LoL

kenjis journey is hard only in some missions. every mission need a different stratergy. for some u can rush. others u need to slowly do it or use specialist armies.

I haven't finished either campaign. God they're so hard, ive been trying for two consecutive years to get past second serpentholm and Grayback's showdown with the guardians. Shows how much I suck with rts games.

Oh I had thought Sinophile is one of the best players because he is a super moderator. So we see how hard these campaigns are.

Maybe I would be the player who is the last on the list when I would play in the internet. :D Because I don´t rush. My style is to build a base with all buildingsand then build a big army who will storming out at the end of the game. I know that isn´t so good in Battle Realms but against the AI I doing that in the most of the games. :)

Played through all 3 campaigns and samped all the provinces on Kenji's Journey with the different clans.

Done Grayback several times, and Dragon ranks highest out of the two Kenji's for me.

There are definitely some boss levels in the campaigns that are difficult.

- Doing Serpentholm either first or second time with either Dragon or Serpent is tough.

My strat for missions in that province usually involves taking your full army and fortifying the Serpentholm Keep plateau. You don't have the full space for all base buildings on the top, but with some good planning you can optimise it to get a few peasant huts and a well, the 3 training buildings, a set of watchtowers then Town Square/Keep and a battlegear building.

It's quite fun doing that strat, good to have a choke point full of archers and cannoneers from the hilltop then a surge of melee units down the hill, though a bit hectic to control and keep them in a passive location.

- The mission after Swan's Pool can be tricky. The path I take on Dragon usually takes me to the east Lotus base; Wolf with the Serpent. Dragon v Lotus offers you a nice spot east of the start position with small rice patch and pond together with room enough for a hut, shrine, tower and dojo, so a spearman spam can do you good until your economy is up and you can expand west without fear of too many attackers.

On Serpent it's good as this match unlocks the Budo Zen Master (albeit a very poor one in terms of damage, but useful for when you need some rice gathering fast) and gives you a starting village in a good defensive position as well.

In terms of the battle it's usually hard as your units aren't great counters to what they throw at you, and the mass of towers means you have to keep re-training your forces.

- Obviously the final Dragon v Lotus and Serpent v Wolf showdowns are tricky. With the enemy on their home province they throw a lot at you and fast. Serpent gets less of a starting force. You can bypass the main war by getting a small force set up and blitz-running towards the Zymeth/Grayback keeps to trigger the spawn, then wait for them to show up at your base with the attackers. Once the Horde become the enemy it shifts to easy mode defense.

The Dragon armies is usually easily countered by Lotus, but the actual Dragon v Lotus missions are actually straightforward, you just need to be prepared to lose alot of men and to re-inforce them.

But Grayback is definitely far too easy. Where Kenji spends his first missions battling proper missions against Otomo, Shinja and fighting to Swan's Pool, Grayback is running round the mines getting a full army of 20 in minutes when he only faces enemy groups numbering less than 5. The first minute of combat out of the mines where you have GB, 2 maulers, 2 brawlers and 1 slinger is hard. I tend to slow that down to the max, and perfectly micro the force so that they all take units they're effective against, to minimise losses.

That mission beyond that is phenomenally easy. Full team of 3 ZM's, all 3 training buildings then shalery and wolve's den with a shitload of horses nearby, good economic start-up and no Lotus raids make for a fun battle. Also: they never advance beyond tier 1 in that mission.

- The wolf mission with the druids is tricky. Constant zergs from witches can pull your army out too far from the base, and you need to keep a close-eye on the Yellow team. Sending tunnelling diggers up to their side can bypass the serpent forces and give some defense until you launch your attack. Has a requirement that you keep all 3 ZM's alive as well.

- Soban's Lab is fun, and with some skill at slowing the game at the right moment you can keep Wildeye and Shale Lord up without having to go for a Keep. Having full map visibility is useful, allowing you to pick off targets in their base with the boulders, and know when they're sending assaults.

- Issyl and Koril is a joke. Neither get Tier 3 armies and have limited bases - few huts, 2 training spots, Keep and some towers, with Crypt, Town Square, Warlock's Tower and Stables split between. The Monastery corner zone is easily defendable with 4 tower chokepoint, and you can clear trees below to get better range.

- Taro mission is hard. Constant zergs from Guardians and BMs can pull your armies too far from main base, with an ample Serpent army also on your doorstep. Starting army is fairly shit as well.

- Final Yvaine mission is a walk in the park. Large rice-field available and initial resources, and the stage-by-stage aspect of attacking makes it more comfortable rather than have all 4/5 Lotus villages attack together. Only hard bit is when the Serpent arrive and you risk having your main battleforce fighting Lotus and Serpent on 2 sides up the mountain, but a line of 4 towers at the base usually takes them out.

Battle Realms campaigns are well thought-out in plotline, difficulty and tactics, but there are better ones around.

the serpent mission are the best because then u must kill otomo :D

but i totally agree the grayback missions were way to damn easy in comparing with the kenji journey

although i also fought that the kenji missions had a better storyline

the mission when u must kill the monks and pre tact the geisha were very easy

Actually the Grayback's journey is the easiest journey of the 2.

I love how Utara is mostly common in the journey. I love her power: 'song of sorrow' take note that she has the lowest resistances combined from all the heroes in Battle Realms defeating Gaihla's resistances and armor. I also loved the idea of including Wildeye and the snow setting it gives me a reminiscing feeling of a sorrow's day past. The ending when defeating Yvaine is fairly difficult because you need to know when to attack and where to attack.

I wish that the Zymeth's journey will be created in the Battle Realms 3.
